Marble combines natural beauty with a unique character. Because of its porous structure, it is sensitive to acids, stains and mechanical damage, and requires regular care.
Proper cleaning and protective treatment help preserve marble's natural beauty, shine and durability for years to come.
General care requirement: active.
Regular, gentle cleaning is the best way to keep a marble surface beautiful and well protected (see also impregnation).
Please note: marble's appearance may change slightly over time, which is a natural part of its unique character and natural variation.
Please note: strong impacts can damage the surface/edges of marble and cause the stone to chip.
When cleaning marble, use only a soft cloth or sponge to keep the surface smooth and free of damage. Avoid metal tools and abrasive sponges, as they can scratch the marble and damage its surface.
- For everyday care, warm water and a cleaning product designed for natural stone are enough. After cleaning, dry the surface with a soft, dry cloth — this helps prevent water marks and limescale residue.
- Avoid vinegar, lemon juice, acidic cleaning agents, and all-purpose cleaning products that contain acids. Marble reacts quickly to acids, and even brief contact can leave dull or matte marks on the surface.
- Any liquids (including coffee, oils, wine, juice, etc.) and other dirt must be removed from the marble surface immediately after spilling! Due to its porous structure, marble absorbs liquids quickly, so stains can become permanent and may be very difficult or impossible to remove later.
Marble's porous structure makes it sensitive to the absorption of liquids and dirt, allowing them to penetrate deep into the stone's surface. As a result, removing (old) stains can later be difficult, and in extreme cases they may remain permanently on the surface.
To remove stubborn stains, use only cleaning products specifically designed for the deep cleaning of marble surfaces. If needed, contact us or consult a natural stone care specialist.
Marble should be treated with a protective product on average every 6–12 months, depending on how heavily the surface is used.
Impregnating a marble surface helps reduce the absorption of moisture and dirt. However, keep in mind that impregnation does not make marble completely damage-proof — it only helps reduce the risk of damage and staining.
